Questions and Answers

A lot of you out there have questions about the model release form we have and just some general questions about what we are trying to do here at ModelsVa.

I've created this section to address some of those questions and concerns.

This is a conversation through email with one of or potential models who had some valid questions about our contract..

Q

Do you want me to have a hard copy (model release) when we meet?

A

No, don't worry, I will have 2 copies of the contract in hard copy, one for you, one for me.

Q

And about the release form, question; “right to use my name (or any fictional name)” ?

A

No, I certainly will not use your name unless you request that I do.

Q

Can we be anonymous or is that just our face? and will you use our name??

A

Like I said, if I do use a name it will be something fictitious. You can remain anonymous. And if you don’t want us to use your face in the photos we can work around that too.

Q

”Picture, portrait, or photograph in all forms", (is that including all pic's that you take that just happen to be nude? Even if I don't want it to be seen nude)????

A

Well, if you remain anonymous, then it shouldn’t matter if you are nude or not, right.
I'm not really trying to get nude photos here. Sometimes models want a few nude shots for themselves just to have, but that's not what I'm after. What I am after is primarily legs oriented shots. "Pinup Girl"-esc photos. A lot of "point your toes", "kick your leg up in the air" type shots. There are a lot of leg sites out there; I am trying to do something that is really on the artistic edge of that. Honestly, I'm not even sure if this will work. If the public will buy into that without having a woman show everything she has. But I'm thinking they will. Check out some of the pseudo covers I just put up on the front page of Modelsva.com. That’s what I'm really trying to do. And I would love to add some pretty faces to those as well.

Q

”and media and in all manners, including composite or distorted representations”?? What does this mean? Distorted as in…?

A

There is no reason in the world why I would want to distort you in any way whatsoever. If anything, I am going try to make you look better than life in these pictures.

I still don't know your full intentions here either. I would hope that if you were happy with the pictures that maybe you would want to do things in the future as well, not just a one shot deal, even though that's fine if you don't. I'm thankful to have you even for one session.

I would like to do an online monthly magazine with five or six girls each issue, not just a cookie cutter membership site. I'm also toying around with the idea of possibly making models their own site and just sharing in the profits. Not sure yet. But for right now, I'm just trying to start something on a shoestring budget. I’m trying to get models with payment being just a nice portfolio with some shots that are digitally enhanced. All of the pictures you see in the portfolio started out as regular, even cheap looking pictures. With enhancements, they look surreal and better than real life. And also notice, most of those pictures don't have faces... that's because they were done almost 10 years ago and if I don't have a release for them, you won't see their face.

So I hope this puts your mind at ease a little? I will even write into the contract that I won't use your face or any nudes or anything else that you don't want to be seen.

Q

Just wanted to clear some things up on the language of what it all means. Thanks for clearing things up!

A

Your very welcome! ;)
